In this RHS version of the classic game of Nibbles, you (the snake) have to move around the playing field while trying to eat the "food" that appears. For each piece of food that you eat, you earn points and your snake body gets longer. The faster you move, the more points you earn and the less food you have to eat to finish the level. If you run into any of the walls, obstacles, or your own snake body, the game ends... 5 stars (Love this game) - We got this for my 3 year old's birthday present and he loves it. It was unbelieveable how fast he mastered the mouse. He is able to play on his own but it is fun to play with him too. He has learned a lot from this game. We also stocked up on cheaper games, but they are worthless - this is definitely worth the $20. 5 stars ( Alphabet Express Preschool is great) - Aside from my son being scared of clowns, this is a great creation! 1 stars (System requirements misleading) - I really can't give this product any stars . . . the system requirements say 7 or later, but later stops at OS9. 5 stars (Great Study Book) - This book was very helpful to use for preparing for the General GRE Exam. I thought they covered each section of the text very well and explained how to do well in each part of the exam. The practice tests were a great study tool as well. 3 stars (Warning to Mac Users) - If you use a Mac, AVOID this book. The reason I state this is that you won't find out until you've opened the envelope containing the CD that it works on Windows only. They do not have a Mac CD to send you -- you are up a creek. As for the rest of the book -- it's standard test-taking skills. If you need that, it's fine. 5 stars (The best resource) - I only had a few weeks to study for the GRE and the Premier program, 2006 edition, was the best resource. It helped in all three catergories and gave useful examples. The accompanying CD was also a great tool. It gave great practice tests that helped me prepare for the actual test. This is a MUST if you have a time constraint. ... 5 stars (A Book for Every Teacher) - Whether you teach math, English, science, or any discipline in a school, this book will make you a BETTER teacher. In addition, when you apply Tovani's suggestions, your students will IMPROVE. This book is worth taking personal time outside the classroom to read. It will make your time in the classroom more purposeful. 4 stars (Practical, easy to apply strategies.) - This book gave me a lot of ideas for getting students to probe into a text to get beyond basic comprehension of a text to creating personal meaning from text. Her techniques are for every student, the talented and the struggling. The only frustrating thing I found about the book is she assumes all teachers work in ideal environments. She tells teachers to get parents to donate post its for the note taking strategy she uses. Parents at my inner city school would not do this. 5 stars (This book was SO helpful!) - I was assigned this book for a class this semester in my grad program. As a science teacher, I went into the class thinking, "Why do I have to take this class??" After the first day, I went to buy my textbook. That night we were assigned the first chapter. I sat down, to read just that chapter, but ended up reading the entire book. Tovani's style of writing is so easy to read and follow. There are items discussed in the book that you can incorporate into your first day of class, and things to use all year. I feel that with these ideas in place, my students are going to do much better in my class. My eyes are open now to the need for teaching reading in every subject. I would reccommend this book to first year teachers and well seasoned teachers alike. Thank you Ms. Tovani for writing such a great book! ... 4 stars (Good data but needs more specific examples) - I was elected to my local board of education and we recently received a credible complaint from a parent that harassment of her son was being overlooked by school administrators. Accordingly, I felt obliged to read up on the issue of bullying. This book sets forth both the problem and the recommended solutions. Prof. Olweus is Norwegian and his studies primarily involve Scandinavian schools. Accordingly, questions came to my mind such as "Is Norway a more homogenious society than the United States? If so, are there any differences in both the problem and the solutions in a more ethnically heterogeneous society?" I don't know the answers but, the reader should keep these issues in mind when reading this book. Prof. Olweus describes the problem and he sets forth well organized solutions to the problem which require involvement of teachers, administrators and parents, and further require communication with all students, even those who are neither bullies nor victims. The one problem I have with the book is that there are very few case histories and specific examples given. The book proposes solutions but does not provide a case history in which the specific solution was successfully applied to the problem at hand. Reliable data and sound recommendations are important but a few specific examples of how these recommendations worked would be helpful. For example, Olweus recommends that parents of a bully apply sanctions if the bullying behavior does not improve. He states, "The consequence should be associated with some degree of discomfort or unpleasantness, but corporal punishment must not be used." OK, fine; but what are specific examples of "discomfor or unpleasantness?" Where are the case histories giving examples? Without these, the book does not provide as fulfilling reading as it otherwise might. This book is well worth reading and I recommend it with the reservations expressed above. 5 stars (This book is the... 5 stars (Great Business Manual!) - This book is a great business manual for executives at all levels. Another book I really enjoyed to read was "The Wal-Mart Way". It was very insightful and had many good ideas for bulding a strong company. 5 stars (Solid Principles for Growth) - I was a little concerned when I started reading this title, wondering if it would apply to churches as well as corporations. I was not disappointed. Kotter's ideas here are valid for any organization that is in the change process. The author's eight steps are nuggets of truth that will help pastors as well as CEOs. I recommend this book highly for pastors of growing, changing congregations. 5 stars (Packed with Knowledge!) - The picture on the cover of John P. Kotter's book tells it all: a group of penguins are shuffling their feet nervously on an icy precipice, while one brave bird leaps for the water below. The question is, which penguin are you? In too many organizations, executives shy away from the precipice, while someone lower down in the pecking order jumps in to test the landing conditions. Kotter says managers and leaders are quite different. A manager, he explains, is trained to think in a linear, one-two-three, risk-limiting way. Transformational change, however, can only be attained when true leaders push forward on several fronts at once - eight of them to be exact. Every successful change initiative begins with a coalition of leaders who create a sense of urgency. Kotter's book stems from a 1995 Harvard Business Review article titled, " Leading Change : Why Transformation Efforts Fail." It will probably sound hauntingly familiar to managers who have watched change initiatives begin in the front courtyard with a marching band and end a few months later, ushered out the back door like a diner who can't pay the tab. If you want to know why your last change initiative fizzled, we say read this book. Better yet, study it to ensure that your next leap of faith is a flying succe... 3 stars (Good practice problems, bad presentation) - I preferred 'Cracking the GMAT', which I read first. I ended up using this book primarily for the practice problems. My big complaint with this book was that in the answers to the practice questions, the problem isn't included. To see the original question, you have to flip to the quiz, then back to the answers...this style makes it difficult to see where you went wrong. Note that the CD version only works on Windows, and you won't see this information printed anywhere obvious. 3 stars (Some parts good, some less so.) - The good: The book itself has some fairly good explanations of things and useful tricks. The practice questions are nice to have, especially the data sufficiency questions which are so unlike anything the average college student has previously encountered. The mediocre: Much of the explanation is *too* much, I think, for a book that's supposed to be geared at people who either have graduated or will be shortly graduating from college, but I may be nitpicking with that. What I definitely find irritating is that the book seems to have been poorly proofread; I caught one reference to 'going back to a question later' or something similar which must have been from a version predating the CAT! The bad: The internet portion offered works very poorly and doesn't give you much that the book and CD don't, though they certainly hype it enough. And the practice questions are generally of easy-to-moderate difficulty, even though it's an adaptive test, probably to get high-level test takers to purchase their separate GMAT 800 book. The gist: If you just want to survive it, this'll probably do you fine. If you're expecting to expand on your preparation with other books, question sets, or prep programs, this seems like a good place to start. But if you want to really do your best, you're going to have to do more than just this book. Since it's a $250 test, you can probably afford a few other boo...
