5 stars (Great book.) - I have been using a canned program to manage my company's web site, but I wasn't always able to do fine tune the pages the way I wished. So I decided to teach myself HTML. Working through this book, I was able to learn step by step how to design pages and manipulate the images and text. The book is very clear and concise and the exercises the author gives at the end of every chapter are extremely useful. 4 stars (Up-To-Date Now - Thank you.) - Having been out of web Development for a couple years, I needed confidence that my basic understanding was up to speed. This book HTML and XHTML in 24 hours, brought me up to date rather quickly. 5 stars (A Business Process Management toolkit must have.) - Rogers new book is notable for a number of reasons. It presents the subject of Business Process Management with a practical 'can do' approach that will appeal to organisation leaders and practitioners alike. It's direct style is accessible and provides a framework which leads both the reader and the BPM implementer through a tried and tested approach harnessing people, process and technology. This is a definite must have in your BPM toolkit. 5 stars (Best in class book with a full view of the subject) - Among the stack of business process and process design books I've read this one stands out as the best. The reason for this bold statement is this is the only one that carefully examines business processes from the four dimensions of (1)Business, (2) Process, (3) Knowledge and (4)Business Rules. Contrast the four-dimensional view this book provides with the two-dimensional view most business process books take (business and process), and you'll begin to see why I like it so much and how this book is a good fit for process analysts and engineers who are faced with aligning business processes to e-commerce initiatives, or aligning IT to business. What I like most is the book is divided into a management guide and a practitioner's guide. This is a unique approach that has a significant benefit: it aligns the sponsors and business process owners (managers) and the design and implementation teams (practitioners) into a unified team by giving each group the necessary information for business process management in their own language and from their own points of view. 5 stars (Fantastic Book for an Advanced Beginner) - My favorite feature of this book is the emphasis on defining basic concepts clearly and in a logical order. I've bought a number of these self-teaching computer books over the years (several on Access), and this is the first one I've gotten any real good out of. I'm half way through, and find I'm learning a lot about databases and how they work, not just the SQL language. I've been writing databases in Access for years and always found it a struggle. I'm having a much better time with that now, and I've got to believe it's due to studying the materials in this book. I'm half way through the book and still going strong. I never made it more that 25 pages into any of the other books I bought. Maybe I won't have to go take an SQL class at the local community college after all! That should tell the story right there. 4 stars (Takes longer then 10 but great) - This is an excellent reference and quit source for anyone trying to get the feel for SQL programming. Simple enough for a novice user and techical enough to more seasoned. So you know exactly where to look. For a beginner the cost to familiarize oneself can't be beat. 4 stars (Features) - The features worked as described. The launcher interface is a little hokey. It is a picture of a phone and you click on the buttons of the phone to open the features. I liked the ringtone editor, very complete; though the included background tracks were somewhat lacking. I don't use the date planner stuff, so I don't know about that. My pictures and contacts downloaded quite easily though it is painfully slow. 5 stars (Excellent Book) - A great book on Ruby. It's getting a bit long in the tooth, but it's still well worth the time and money. I keep hearing rumours of a second edition ... PLEASE! 3 stars (Not bad) - I would have liked this book in the first few week or two when I was just learning Ruby, but I got this book after I had hacked some thousand lines of Ruby and read Dave Thomas's PickAxe II, and thus did not end up finding this book to be very useful. This would be good to lend to a "Ruby nuby" but overall seems to lack true depth. 3 stars (Nice consise intro - more useful for clients than consultants) - The scope of this book is so huge there's just no way it could be anything other than a consise intro to the major functionality of each of the modules. For me (as an Apps Consultant) it's a decorative paperweight. I never refer to it myself however this is the book I always toss to the clients when there is no budget for any training whatsoever and some poor accountant has to switch to Oracle from another ERP - it's certainly easier to understand than the help screens ;) Overall I liked it - I think the guys from BOSS did a nice job summarising the financial applications. Of course, it's getting a bit out of date now but for an accountant it's worthwhile. 4 stars (Excellent Reference for Oracle 11i ERP implementation team) - This book gives an excellent overview of the non-CRM modules in Oracle 11i suite - Financials, HRMS, Manufacturing, Projects. What is refreshing about this book is in addition to information on 11i, this book also provides thoughtful discussions on Project Management and on consulting. The authors have indeed succeeded in packaging these exhaustive material within one volume. This book is a "must have" as a reference for anyone who is involved in ERP implementation project. Hopefully we will soon have a similar book on CRM modules that includes inter-relationship between different ERP-CRM modules. 2 stars (Not for most developers) - This book does not provide the level of detail that would help most Apps developers. This book is designed more for functional analysts responsible for setups, than for developers who need to understand the underlying architecture and functionalities. 5 stars (the one I turn to) - Never one to skimp on books, I ordered three with almost exactly the same title on COM/.NET Interop when I needed some information on the subject. Adam Nathan's book is by far my favorite. I've never found an answer in another book that wasn't in Nathan's (and have found many in his that I didn't find anywhere else). It seems like this book isn't as easy to get on amazon as it once was--a pity, because it's the first (and maybe only) Interop book you'll need. Maybe he'll come out with another edition as .NET changes... 5 stars (Truly is the Complete Guide) - This book has been an invaluble resource on a .NET/COM interop project I've been working on. Don Bo'xs quote on the cover sums up the title nicely, "This is the last book that should be written about COM programming. There is nothing left to say." Since I'm a published author myself, I first bought a book on this topic from my publisher Microsoft Press. While accurate, it left a lot to desire. Very little advanced information was provided. However, this title from Adam Nathan's and Sams Publishing leaves nothing out, including extensive references. If you are working with COM objects from .NET, or vice-versa, this book will be an excellent resource. 4 stars (Comprehensive interoperability book) - Often finding an appropriate and effective bridge to .NET is a time consuming and problematic task, we had to do a lot of research and benchmarking to find an optimal solution. Having this book by Adam Nathan will save time and effort on building these bridges. The material in the book is intended for use by experienced professional developers, it's certainly not an entry level tutorial, but the author's style, detailed description supported by examples makes it easy to read and follow.
