The Secrets of Writing a Winning Proposal

eBook: The Secrets of Writing a Winning Proposal . How to take the Drudgery out of Proposal Writing - Most businesses will sooner or later have to do a proposal to get new orders. This maybe a bid on a contract, a business proposal to a government authority - to another company or organization. But often the time frame to prepare the proposal is too short - and so the proposal doesn't meet the requirements of the addressee...

It-s All Politics - Winning in a World Where Hard Work and Talent Aren-t Enough

3 stars (C ycnical btu not to be missed) - Some realpolitik here. I can't say I enjoyed it thoroughly but I was curious and I lked learning abiout behaviors I could benefit from knowing. 4 stars (It's Not ALL Work, Can Be Fun!) - This valuable reference book explains the "in's and outs" of office politics, which are the most single factor in getting ahead in the career of your choice. This book is full of commonsense wisdom on how to get along with others and get ahead in life. Dr. Reardon is the author of THE SECRET HANDSHAKE about business psychology. She's great! Talent alone does not insure success; you must have those important relationships with the people who can best reward your creativity and intelligence. You are encouraged to 'pick your battles wisely' to deal with a difficult co-worker. When we think about politicians, automatically the words 'unethical' and 'devious' (sometimes flat-out 'lies') come to mind. In the workplace, "knowing what to say, to whom, and how and when to say it." Most of all, you will need to be able to convert enemies into your allies to win crucial support for your ideas. The only way to avoid politics at work is to avoid people. "For every locked entrance, there is a back door, window, even a chimney;" always be sure there is a way out before you crawl into a corner. It is important to remember that there is more than one way to handle any situation: good, bad or indifferent. Intuition is needed, but just as necessary is the power of persuasion.Power is a critical part of career politics. People remember those they perceive to be powerful. Power, like beauty, is in the eyes of the beholder. A good read, wonderful instruction in the ways of life at work and at home, and packed full of good advice. It behooves us to try to follow her instructions as close to the letter as possible. She knows what she is talking about; you can, too. ...

Every Man-s Battle - Winning the War on Sexual Temptation One Victory at a Time The Every Man Serie

5 stars (A great book) - A great book with a practical approach to a sensitive area for all men. 5 stars (Great tool to overcome sexual temptation) - This is an incredible book. It totally helped me to overcome my struggles with pornography and sexual temptation in general. It gives the reader tools to fight the battle. I'd highly recommend it. It's changed my life and the lives of others I know. If you struggle at all in this area, it's the book for you. 2 stars (Agreed) - Hello, my name is Michael Campbell, and having used this book in a study group I agree that it is totally a mixed bag. I feel her review is right on, and dont really have that much to add to it. Luckily it was a quick read (each of the 6 sections takes only 20 or 30 minutes to read) and so I dont feel I wasted a lot of time on it. If you struggle with sexual purity then this is for you. If not invest your time in the Bible or another wonderful book Gods Politics by Wallis. God bless! Mike Campbell ...

Winning With People - Discover the People Principles that Work for You Every Time

4 stars (Another Winner!) - First of all I want to confess that I am John Maxwell junkie. I not only thoroughly enjoy his books but they help me in becoming a better person. This book is written where every chapter is golden and yet able to stand alone. You can simply open the book to any chapter and it will enrich you. Even though the chapters are segmented into 5 logical sections. I especially liked the chapter entitled, "The Pain Principle: Hurting people hurt people and are easily hurt by them". This chapter increased my empathy and sensitivity for hurting people. It just makes sense that those that lash out are really hurting people. I gave this book 4 stars simply because his best work by far was, "21 Irrefutable Laws of Leadership". As helpful as this book was I simply tried to read a chapter each evening before going to sleep. Like a nutritious light snack that won't keep you up all night. 4 stars (Impressed with reservations) - This is the second book I've read from John Maxwell. Overall, I found the book to be well written, personal, and filled with principles, explanations, and anecdotes. Each principle is explained in a manner that should strike a cord in many people. He supports the concept embodied by the principle with anecdotes, both personal and historical. If you are looking for a book to help with interpersonal relationships, this is a good book to to start with. John covers a lot of ground in this book. That would be my major criticism of the book. There are many, many strategies and approaches, and keeping track can get confusing. They are well organized. This will have to be a book that you refer back to as issues in your life come up and you are looking for help. I think Covey's work is more managable and priciple system oriented, but that shouldn't detract from John's work. There is an unlying system, but John's approach appears to be more of set of tools to help you, with each dealing with a specific type of problem. 5 stars (...

Trade Like a Hedge Fund- 20 Successful Uncorrelated Strategies Techniques to Winning Profits

1 stars (Another Disappointing Book on Strategy) - Every once in a while I go out and buy another strategy book to flip through, and honestly, I am generally disappointed in what is out there. This book however ranks among the worst. The first sign is the blatant grammatical and spelling errors starting in Chapter 1 (i.e. "...then we are run like hell out of the trade."). The second warning bell comes with the gross misrepresentations about the market in general (i.e. "...low-price stocks translates into a higher-risk premium and, as a category, these low-priced stocks tends to do well..." - again, the author's grammar, verbatim). Sometimes the poor grammar can be chalked up to someone who is so into their game that they skipped less important classes when they were young (i.e. grammar, spelling, literature), and market hype can be the result of true passion, albeit a wee bit overzealous. Unfortunately, the reader quickly discovers the actual content is not very useful either, and is just a re-hashing of weak systems containing catchy buzz words and simplistic formulas. 5 stars (Greate book for system devlopers) - I have been developing trading systems for 5 years and this book has many intesting ideas. I checked most of them out with my data and started trading with some. I think it is a great book for someone who is interested with system development and needs new ideas. 1 stars (Don't waste your time or money.) - This is one of those rare books which are so thin, you can learn as much from their table of contents as from their actual contents. There are a number of things I didn't like about this book and its packaging, but I will only list two for brevities sake. First, there are not "20 Successful Uncorrelated Strategies". "Technique 19" is simply a list of what the author believes doesn't work. "Technique 20" is a reading list of books the author likes; there are probably hundreds of Wall Street listmanias listing the same books. The other 18 present abs...

5 stars (Jack Welch is great!) - Jack Welch is a great business leader! He is also very direct and to the point about his ideas. I love that about his book. A must read for anyone serious about growing and learning. 4 stars (Lots of good insight into the world of business) - I am a small business owner trying to think big and "keep it real." There were many valuable insights in here and reminders on common sense issues. 3 stars (Insightful At Times, but Mostly Superficial) - Jack Welch clearly is a legendary business leader; however, a great writer he is not. The book offers a few insights - eg. the power of corporate vision and value, budgeting and rewarding performance in the real (dynamic) world - but his book is not nearly as specific and helpful as Larry Bossidy's (Welch's former #2) "Confronting Reality," and "Execution." Sadly, the book also does not reference how Welch greatly simplified planning and accountability by getting rid of the planners and layers of bureaucracy, and instead focusing on fast reaction - a lesson that some firms, government and public education still need to learn. In addition, Welch does not address most of the vast changes simplifying much of management in the last few years - even though he pioneered much of their use. The job has become primarily one of reducing costs - especially by shifting work away from Americans. This is accomplished by: 1)Maximizing outsourcing (eg. to Canada - primarily to avoid U.S. healthcare costs; to China and India - primarily to greatly reduce production labor, call-center, and design and programming costs, 2)Maximizing use of illegal immigrants within the U.S. - eg. in the meatpacking, construction, and other food-processing and food-serving areas, 3)Maximizing use of legal temporary immigrants within the U.S. - eg. Indian citizens with H-1B and L1 visas in areas such as electronics design and manufacturing, and computer programming. 4)Maximizing use of aggressive accounting - eg. capit...

The Romantic-s Guide to Popping the Question- 101 Award Winning Marriage Proposal Stories and Ideas

5 stars (What a great idea Michael has!) - If you haven't read Michael's bio, you should. Happily married for 12 years, he knows what he is talking about! This is a fun book with some great ideas in it! My advice? Read it...take notes...and follow the recipe! Jaci Rae is the critically acclaimed author of "Winning Points with the Woman in Your Life One Touchdown at a Time" ISBN 0974622907 and "The Ultimate Guide To Music Success" ISBN 0974622923 as well as the host of the Jaci Rae .com show. Dubbed by the media as "Racy Jaci" because of her quick wit and "The Rae of Hope," for her powerful insight. 5 stars (How To Make Adults Cry) - Even before I had a fiance I was a sucker for those proposal shows - every time I saw a real life proposal that they showed on TV, it made me cry. When it was time for me to get engaged I wanted to have a proposal that was endearing, touching and dramatic like the ones I saw on TV. This book was the start of a fantastic proposal that not only was magnificient, it also was featured on the local news and in two of our newspapers. I had some ideas of my own before reading the book, but everything I read really helped me to flesh it out and perfect it. It was definitely worth the investment. A nice bonus were the dozens of photos of some of the actual proposals featured in the book. The ring cost me $3000 so I figured I could spend a little more to make it a proposal of a lifetime and I am glad I did. 1 stars (Don't waste your money) - Don't waste your money on this book, the stories aren't any different than what you can find posted on some web site somewhere. And as far as the tips that go along with the book, you would have to be a retard not to know you shouldn't say "I'll marry you if you lose 20 pounds." The big secret to getting someone till film your proposal..........have someone ready with a camera when and where your going to do the deed. What a great idea! Save your money and think up your own idea. ...

Getting Started in Currency Trading- Winning in Today-s Hottest Marketplace

5 stars (All The Fundamentals) - It clearly explains the currency market, how it works, how to get a free practice account and great websites to check out. For trading strategies you need to research elsewhere or invent them yourself. 5 stars (Concise "big picture" book) - This book is perfect for getting the big picture view of forex trading. It's perfectly titled "Getting Started in Currency Trading". The chapters are concisely written with clear examples that are not cluttered up with useless stories. This book made it easy for me to plan the steps necessary to start trading. What this book WILL NOT do for you: 1. Give you a step by step methodology for trading What this book WILL do for you: 1. Make you aware of the main points to keep in mind with trading currencies. 2. Tell you exactly where to look for more information 3. Will not overwhelm you with tons of nuances and indicators 4. Give you a thorough understanding of money management 5. Allow you to make a detailed checklist of what needs to be in place before you put in your first trade. Hope this helps. 5 stars (Great Foundation Builder) - This book is an excellent resource to build a foundation about the FOREX market. I read several books and articles about the FOREX market but this book gave me the best understanding about currency trading. If you don't know anything about currency trading, this book has the resources in it to give you the basic about FOREX. I would recommend "Getting Started in Currency Trading" by Michael Archer to all beginners. I am a beginner to the FOREX market and beleive that I will be very success as a Currency trader with the foundation information in this book. Socks Socks Socks - 70 Winning Patterns From -I-Knitter-s Magazine--I- Sock Contest

2 stars (not visually pleasing) - Although some of the patterns were quite lovely--and creative! one pair is knitted using licorice--the book is not lovely. The photographs of people either wearing or holding up socks are distracting, to say the least, and add little. Also, no yarn information is given for the sample versions shown. 5 stars (my favourite knitting book) - I own scores of knitting books, but I always come back to this one. Socks are perfect little projects for breaks between big projects, and great for trying new techniques. There are lots of different techniques in this book: Dutch heels, Turkish (short-row) heels, after-thought heels, cuff-down construction, toe-up construction, two-needle method, two-circular method, machine knitting, sideways-knitted, etc. The list of knitting skills you can try is comprehensive: lace knitting, cables, intarsia, fair isle, mosaic, modular (entrelac, mitred squares), embossed (bobbles, etc.), ribble (reversible cable)... the list goes on. Highly recommended. 3 stars (Some of the patterns have mistakes) - Overall I would have to say that this is a good book and worth buying. I have found mistakes in the Interlac socks, and with the maple twist socks, The maple twist socks, I have tried three times and still have yet to make it look like a proper sock. Everthing is fine until the last 3 sections. The Interlac socks are missing a set of squares after the heel. I have also tried the leafy lacy ones, and the fire like ones and found no mistakes in there. I also have a tendancy of trying to find the hardest pattern and doing it so it could be a me thing. If there were no mistakes in the book I would give it five of five, but the mistakes are nerve wraking for me Jodi ...
