The IMAGETEAM# 4800 Industrial 2D Area Imager is the first hand held area image reader powered by Adaptus# imaging technology. Whether your application is reading conventional linear bar codes or tomorrow#s 2D matrix symbologies, the IT4800 can capture them all today. Its advanced imaging optics software quickly and easily determines the image content and transfers it to your host system. In fact, full image transfer can be accomplished in less than one second through its onboard full speed USB interface.
The IT4800 can be used in a wide range of applications from circuit board manufacture to package delivery tracking. Lab Results and Evaluation for IT4800:
After scanning with the IT4800, we found that the IT4800 has a focal point of about 5 inches and is designed to read images 10 mils and greater. We were very impressed with the light weight and very fast reading of the scanner, even with large Data Matrix and PDF417 symbols. The IT4800 imager was able to dependably read PDF417 and linear barcodes printed with our ActiveX Control and DLL with an X dimension as small as .015CM and the Data Matrix ActiveX Control as small as .025CM. It also dependably scanned DataMatrix symbols printed with our Data Matrix Font at 3 points which is an X dimension of .025CM or 10 mils. If you are interested in reading POSTNET barcodes, you will need to use the IT4800.
After enabling the Two-dimensional Print Quality Assessment feature, we were able to validate the quality of printed 2D barcodes including Data Matrix and Postnet symbols, with the IT4800. Below we have included the output we received from the scanner after enabling this feature and scanning some slightly defective barcodes that still scanned properly.

HHP 2D Imager NOTE: For those users who have purchase the IT4800 unit prior to the PQA software being integrated into the imager, you will need to purchase the RS232 cable and power supply to be able to download the firmware from Hand Held Products's website to your imager at your workstation. This update is now available at their Developer Solutions Website. First you will need to sign up and then choose the scanner 'IMAGETEAM 4800 Industrial 2D Area Imager'. You will need to download the 'Matrix Standard Software'. You will also need to download the 'Quick*View Software Utility', which is a Windows-based software program that displays decoded symbol messages and captured images.
