5 stars (Great for what it is) - Each language software package can only handle a few angles on language. Talk Now! offers inspired games and oral repetitions for learning vocabulary, telling time and more. The bad reviews must be generated by users who expect everything from one cd. Not me. I love Talk Now! for what it is and hope they expand their scope with all languages as they have with Cantonese. If you want to become fluent, buy several software packages and visit the country for more than a year. If you want an almost effortless and fun introduction this is it. It's one of a kind. 2 stars (Not the best product I've tried) - If you just want to learn a few words in Cantonese and learn well by plain rote, this is probably a fair course. However, if you're serious about learning Cantonese, skip this one and try something else. This course just throws out random words with no context of how they'll be used. Grammer and enunciation are given very little attention here. If you've studied Cantonese at all, you'll understand the importance of both. The audio is not terrible clear and the pronounciation doesn't seem to jive with what I'm learning from my wife and other courses. This course is okay for the price (I got it on sale bundled with the Mandarin course for $10), but if you plan on ever having a conversation in Cantonese someday, I'd recommend the excellent Pimsleur course. Basic Cantonese by Virginia Yip is quite good as well. 2 stars (Not working upon install) - Just installed this on Windows XP today. It seemed to install & run, but when it finished going through its rather lengthy procedure (colors changing on monitor white/black/R,G,B) I received a runtime error with report to send to Microsoft. Tried restarting/ unplugging/ etc. but still doesn't work. Their web site had no real useful info on debugging or common error info. It also states they're closed until the first of the year, so we'll have to wait a week+ to see if it really works; I'll pass on giving my final rating for now. 5 stars (Amazing Deal!) - I am an amatuer photographer, and painter. And I have always had trouble producing consistent colors and contrast with images. I adjusted my monitor all the time, but the images would look different on other monitors. I really wanted to get the Pantone Sypder, but couldn't afford it. When I saw ColorPlus and the price I got it right away. Let me just say that after installing the software (which was easy) and hooking up the hardware (easy too) and then going through the on screen guide (which took maybe 10 minutes), I noticed a HUGE difference in my pictures. At first I really didn't notice anything, until I opened some pictures of people. You can see excellent flesh tones. Before it was like looking through a blurry glass, now pictures of people are sharp and clear. Plus my video games are much clearer as well. 1 stars (I'm dissappointed and frustrated) - I have a laptop and a 2nd graphics monitor at home, and bought this to calibrate both. I adjust the sliders on my IBM T40, and the Spyder software doesn't "see" that I've done it, although it's conspicuous on the LCD screen. The second monitor? It won't even recognize it. Over $200 wasted. 1 stars (Installation problems) - The price is attractive and the kit takes up virtually no space. However, do not buy this kit until you have read Michael Reichmann's review on luminous-landscape.com. There is a severe Micrsoft warning (XP Home) not to proceed with scanner installation. Take it serioulsy. Like Michael I did not. There is also a circular software problem in Photoshop to do with internal communications that you can suffer. Re-insatalltion as recomended by Pantone/Colourvision on their web site can lead you ino a circular need to reinstall. They also claim dual video support for SypderPro 2. But the readme file says Windows does not support mutiple profiles with a dual video output video card. How many folks have 2 video cards on a PC? 3 stars (Printfix: A good budget option) - I have been using Printfix for calibrating my Epson R800 and I am running a PC on Windows XP with Photoshop CS (now upgraded to CS2) I find the results perfectly acceptable especially considering that other products on the market often cost more than double. I initially did have some problems with the version that was shipped (1.0)and my printer was not supported, but Colorvision technical support sorted the problem and sent me updates in the post. In summary, probably not the best, but for the price a good buy. 2 stars (Not acceptable for Mac users) - (Note: Rating should be ZERO stars -- not two. Unfortunately it isn't possible to change the star rating when editing a review.) (Final update: I have retested this product using Adobe PhotoShop CS2, the latest release. It fails exactly as described below, causing PhotoShop to crash during the calibration step and making the product impossible to use. It is inconceivable to me that such a bug-ridden product could have been released.) The fifth edition includes new material on ISO 9000, benchmarking, the Baldrige and other awards, adoption of Strategic Quality Planning and TQM, management leadership for quality, self-directing teams, quality function deployment, and Tuguchi Methods. 5 stars (Excellent Reference) - Excellent reference. I used this in my Six Sigma Black Belt course. I referenced it many times. I could not have passed the test without it. Some of the chapters (e.g. quality in foriegn countries) did not interest me, but seemed to be well written -- such is the case anyway with references. I called their support desk and they walked me through the simple procedures unsuccessffully. The person with whom I spoke said that the installation disc was probably corrupted, and I was then directed to their website to download the latest Colorvision Profiler shown, which is dated August 2002. It is a bit behind the times, apparently, to work with CS2, because it also didin't work at all. I don't know what the PlUS is all about, if its latest downloadable program is three years old, and it doesn't funcion with the latest Adobe Photoshop CS2. I, too, received a used product - scuffs on the spyder and opened software box. unfortunately, my product was broken as well. the product may be good in theory, but then, it would need to work for me to comment on that particular facet. you may want to consider other alternatives. 2 stars (A Necessary Accessory?) - The Spyder 2 promises to calibrate your monitor so that the images on the screen will look more like what is being produced by your printer. It does this by building a profile for your monitor and running that profile when you start your computer. Installation and running of the of the software and the hardware that attaches to the monitor to build the profile was flawless. A little more information in the form of a printed manual or pdf file would have been nice, but the software does a good job of hand-holding and stepping one through the process. With the monitor calibration completed the images on the screen were indeed a little closer to what my printer, an HP 5550, was producing.
