5 stars (Good Drawings, Modernized Text) - I first went and looked at the Kama Sutra in the free on-line version at books-on-line.com. The price was certainly right. But it was the original, ancient text, and somewhat hard to follow. Damn good reading, but sometimes hard to imagine just what they were talking about. Now comes this edition, very reasonably priced which takes the positions and illustrates them with drawings. It's a lot easier to understand. I guess that I'm just a bit too simple minded. A lot of these look pretty interesting, but some of them (Face-to-Face Fandango, page 65) looks like it would hurt. The book is put out by Cosmopolitan, so it's oriented to the female side. Each position has a 'Why You'll Love It.' A little bit of 'Why He'll Love It' wouldn't hurt. After all this is a two person sport. 4 stars (The Cosmo Kama Sutra) - The pictures are great and it is really fun. Some of the poses I found were some we had just done naturally. 5 stars (you need to want it) - After 15 years of heavy smoking it was the time to quit after my son was born. Whatsoever... it was a hard struggle and whenever i had the urge to smoke i picket up the book from Mr. Carr and it made the desire disappear. I did not use the book to quit smoking. (I did it cold turkey) it was actually not even after three month that i picket it up for the first time. When i had that urge and read a couple of pages it made me realize how stupid it was to ever light a cigarette again. I have not smoked since. It is still hard sometimes but whenever i feel the need to smoke i pick up the book instead. And i tell you. It works. 5 stars (I don't know how but it seems to work!!!) - I smoked for almost 18 years, 12 to 15 a day and never had the courage to have a serious attempt to quit. I tried reducing (I created spread sheets with graphs, daily averages, formulas to calculate rewards, penalties, comparing months, days, hours and all) for more than a year, which was an enormous struggle and did not help at all to reduce my desire to smoke and I think it made cigarettes even more precious for me than they were ever before. Recently, before boarding for a 7 hour flight, I bought a pack of nicotine gums - for the first time in my life. After trying it in the flight and afterwards, I realised it helped me and I didn't feel like smoking that much. So I set a date, stopped smoking cigarettes and started chewing nicotine gums from that day onwards. I was thinking that it was going very good by the help of miraculous nicotine gums and keep asking myself why I did not try them before. In the meantime, I had a tiny question in my mind: will it be also easy for me to quit nicotine gums when the time comes? After 10 days, I realized I don't crave for cigarettes anymore but for gums and took it as a good sign. As a coincidence, I heard about Mr. Carr's "way", seminars and books towards the end of the 2nd week of my attempt and decided to read the book ... 5 stars (jewelry rave) - This book is a must have for anyone who wants to create beauty with metals, but does not have safe access to a torch. I live in a condo, and had to find an available 'lab' whenever I wanted to complete a piece of jewelry. I have moved on to a new style of fabrication, and love it. 5 stars (An outstanding book on cold-connections.) - A cold connection = any connection made without heat. Joanna has put together a fantastic book that brings together many different cold connection techniques. I have yet to find another jewelry making book that covered as many cold techniques that this one does. I highly recommend this book to anyone looking to enhance their jewelry making skills, but is not yet ready to move to the use of a torch for soldering. 5 stars (Great book for beginners!!) - This is an excellent book for beginners or those who are slightly more advanced in jewellery making. The jewellery in this book is made stricly with cold connections, no soldering or heating involved. For the more advanced, such as myself, I find this book great for inspiration to include cold connections in my designs. 5 stars (VERY cool projects!) - FINALLY! I found something that is not only fun to do, but I actually can do it well! This book gives you full details on using your photos (or other images) to decorate vases, frames, candles and all kinds of things in your home. I've made some nice gifts which can be really easy with the techniques shown in the book. Great ideas, great instruction! I like that she included clip art in the back of the book as well - I love projects like these but I'm not always the most imaginative person in the world. It's good to have ideas in front of me. 5 stars (This is a great book!) - This book tells you everything you need to know about making your own transfers. I especially love all of the introductory information. It's a resource that I can refer to again and again! And the projects are very clever and fun. ... 4 stars (fresh, light young, urban) - Fresh, light, young, urban. These are words that come to mind when I compare the styles in Iris Schrier's latest book to other recent books about modular knitting. They are all good but the designs in this one are more geared for up and coming young professionals. hip new knitters or knitters of any age who prefer a simpler, more understated look. Because they are less complicated and generally smaller they will be quicker to knit. Besides, Iris is a natural teacher so her instructions are easy to follow. 5 stars (Wonderful New Book for Knitters!) - Perfect book if you love hand-painted yarn and want it to look as good in your knitted piece as it does on the hank. It shows you through tutorials and 25 projects how to maximize the beauty of the yarn by turning and knitting to create interesting designs. Most of the chapters teach a way to knit in continuous modules without having to cut yarn or pick up stitches and the last one teaches traditional modular knitting. This is totally new stuff, so if you're adventuresome and want to expand your knitting abilities, you'll love it. ... 5 stars (Fast delivery, excellent condition) - This seller shows Amazon buying at it's best. My book arrived in exactly the condition described and in a timely fashion. And...the price was right. Couldn't ask for more. 5 stars (I'm shocked... ) - to see the reviews on this book. I have yet to use my kiln though I've had it for over a year now. I have tons of books on the subject, the first of which was Contemporary Warm Glass by Brad Walker. I do believe that is an excellent beginners book but I didn't find it motivational at all. The examples are basic, just as they should be in a beginner's book. But, I found that every time I headed to my workshop to start a project I was already less than impressed with what I was about to do. I'd get frustrated and leave after cutting a few pieces of glass. I'm a perfectionist which is not a good thing for someone trying to get in touch with their creative side. So, it's difficult for me to start something knowing that I probably won't like what I'm about to do. But, I found after reading "Warm Glass..." I was totally excited again. It is more advanced but it shows you how to do something other than a coaster!! It's finally the inspiration that makes me accept that I need to do a few coasters before I can move up to the more advanced and unique pieces. Not only are the examples really beautiful - the instructions cover it all - even frabricating your own molds. The presentation is exceptionally professional. The examples may assume a basic understanding, but with a little foundation it appears to be a very thorough book. I will now go back and use Contemporary Warm Glass to get started - but I can't wait to try some of the techniques demonstrated in this book! 5 stars (Practical, Inspiring and Beautiful!) - I picked this book up at the library, but had to buy my own copy after reluctantly turning it in after having it four weeks and renewing it once. The illustrations of the unique, beautiful shrines and shadow boxes created by the artists are worth the price of the book even if you never make one. I'm no whiz at crafting, but the instructions are so simple, easy to understand and clearly written that I made 2 shrines in less than 2 weeks in my spare time. Each example has several variations and each shrine has an easy to understand material list. The instructions were even easy enough for a man to follow. LOL! If you love collage, you'll love this book. It's a wonderful way to take collaging a step further to a 3 dimensional, inexpensive medium that can become a collector's item or family heirloom. 5 stars (Ballparks by Sandalow and Sutton) - This volume is a must for sports enthusiasts everywhere. The photos of the various ballparks are spectacular feats of color photography. The Camden Yards are presented. The picture depicts the Yankees/Orioles contest in August of 2003. A panoramic shot of the Oriole Park depicts nightfall in the ballpark. There are similar spectacular views of Fenway Park, Memorial Stadium and Shea Stadium in NYC. A full color picture of Pro-Player Stadium provides a considerable conversation piece for Miami Dolphin fans. The book is worth the price of admission for the diehard sports fans. This volume would make a perfect school project for the student in your family. 5 stars (So nice to see a book like this) - This is such a wonderful book. The photos, the colors, it took me back to my childhood. While it was given to me as a gift, I should have bought it before. If you are looking for a gift for that baseball nut you have in your family, get them this book. You will not go wrong and they will love you for it. 2 stars (Low quality editing) - While the size of the photos is a treat, this book offers little else. Most every photo can be seen in other books, and the editing is just horrible. There are many captions that are clearly in error, for example, calling a US Cellular game between Chi and Clv the all-star game, and labeling a Dodger Stadium pic as being from 1983 when it is clearly within the last 4 years. 4 stars (Book of 5 rings) - The Book of Five Rings is indeed a great book to read. It has many functional applications that we can use even to this date. 4 stars (Musashi really understood strategy) - I read this book via download, translated by Victor Harris, but they can't be that different! It is roughly organized, appears to be random thoughts, and uses some figures of speech that can be difficult to understand, but is a masterpiece in it's own class. It's amazing how many people and entire cultures have moulded their philosophy of combat and even business around these precepts. This is a short, easily read book that moves along pretty quickly. It cuts to the chase almost immediately though, and doesn't back off. Well worth the meager price. 5 stars (great book ) - This is a great book for the swordsman,samurai enthusiast,or anyone who wants insite into the spiritual history of japan.It contains helpful advice for anyone looking to better their life and overcome fear. ... 5 stars (A MUST FOR NEW BOATERS AND A GOOD REFERENCE FOR ALL) - I just replaced my 54th edition with the 64th. Much of it is the same but much has also changed in the past 16 years. If you are new to boating this book might literally save your life. If you're a seasoned skipper you'll find yourself using it for a reference more often than you'd imagine. Covers every thing you need to know for boating in either sail or power. This book is "the Boater's Bible". If for no other reason than learning the "rules of the waterway" Chapman's is worth it's weight in gold. 4 stars (Great book "manufactured" and edited in China) - This is a great book. It has almost everything. What it does not have, I have not found. I do have a problem with the book. The number of "typos" is huge. It appears that whoever proofed this book was not fluent in English. The words appear to be spelled correctly; they are just the wrong words. It v. if? "United State" v. United States. I don't know if past editions had this problem, but this one shure does. ...
