Jewel Quest

5 stars (great game) - Very addictive game. I cruised through the first level and now I am really challenged with the second and there are three more to go after that. 5 stars (A Fun & Addictive Game) - I recently started playing several computer games, and this one was recommended to me by a friend - she said it could be addicting, and I must say that she was right! I have been playing Jewel Quest on and off for several months now, and it seems as if the levels will never end. I think this is a good thing, because once you solve a game, you usually don't play it again. Because of the sheer # of levels, this game can provide many, many hours of enjoyment (or frustration....) One of the great features of this game is that you are never made to start all over again - You keep working on the same board until you conquer it. After you've attempted the same board several times without beating it, you are given the option to just skip that particular level, and move on. I personally never choose that option, but I like to know that the option is available if I get too frustrated with the difficulty of a particular section. The goal of Jewel Quest is to match various items - you must match at least 3 of the same item in a row or colum. By doing this, you turn the "sand" tiles to "gold", and you must get the entire grid gold within a specific period of time. It may sound easy, but as you move along the levels, it actually gets quite difficult. Overall, I would recommend this game to anyone who enjoys matching games where there is increasing levels of difficulty. My thought is that it's probably more appropriate for adults as opposed to children. 5 stars (Fun for all) - Fun game. Can be habit forming, if you do not succed the first time it lets you try again and again after so many tries it moves you to the next level, onlike some games that says you done for. some of the games do get boring after you have played them a half dozen times before moving to the n...

Who Wants to Be A Millionaire Family Collection

5 stars (very satisfied) - I have purchased this family edition for of course my family. It is a great time to get the family together and a learning experence at the same time. Return To Mysterious Island

4 stars (Captivating...even if too short) - This game held my interest. Some of the puzzles are complicated. I don't even know how I completed one. I was just guessing and clicking. I was very shocked when the game ended. It is a very short game. It held my interest and I thought about the combinations I could try even when I wasn't playing! My 9 year old is playing it. It should have a rating in between T and E. The violence is minimal at the most. 4 stars (Return to Mysterious Island) - I thought this was a interesting game with some real twist, figuring out how to make all the weapons was a real challange. 5 stars (One of the best out there) - Though not as grand as Syberia 2, or as visually stunning as Myst 4, this is one of the best games I've ever played. The story is intriqueing, the interface is simple and the item collection and assembly is a joy. My only complaint is that it seems too short. A bargain at twice the price. ...

SET- The Computer Game

2 stars (A good game, but really outdated version :-() - My son and I love to play the daily puzzle of the game of SET at the website setgame.com. Naturally we were excited to see that this version listed "Includes online play" as a feature, because we have multiple PC's at home on our home network. The CD version I received gives the error message "Sorry, your IP address is invalid for this Demo Version" when we try multi-player mode. Then I realized communications options lists only 3 modem speeds - 1200, 2400 and 9600 baud. Cmon folks - This is the year 2005: era of home networks, broadband and multiple cell phones. None of my home PC's even have modems. At this day and age, cannot expect 2 analog phone lines at home to dial each other for "Online play" via slooooow Modems! From the "Help-About" it appears the game may have been last updated in 1994. The vendor really needs to update the software to be compatible with current computer networks. Other than the above gripes, the game itself was functional and looked good. However, I am returning the game as I bought it with online play as a major reason. 5 stars (I like to think it encourages mathematical thinking . . . ) - I've been playing the card game for years--it's wonderful. I'm so happy they've made a computer version so that I don't have to find someone to play against me! As a mathematics educator, I'll definitely get this for my classroom, because I think that it encourages the same kind of thinking required for conceptual problems posed in high-school math classes. (And, theoretically, it can be used to cover some mathematical concepts, like probability.) It's definitely a stimulating game--and I love it. 5 stars (Beginning Player) - I played the computer game SET for the first time last night at a party my parents went to. It was fun but challenging because the computer was finding more sets than I was in the beginning. Other people got interested in the game and everyone started looking for ...

Chemicus

3 stars ( Chemicus ) - While the game is not one of my favorites it is not bad. You definitely need a guide to play this. (In today's games, who wouldn't?) There is a lot of inventory and it is sometimes cumbersome to perform a task. I would recommend this to anyone who likes science or just for relaxation. Ed 4 stars (Much Better Than Physicus, But...) - My wife and I are avid adventure gamers and, to help pass the time until "URU: Ages Beyond Myst" is released later this year, we decided to try " Chemicus ". We played "Physicus" a couple years ago and, while we enjoyed it, we both thought that it could have been a much better game if it had tied into Physics a little deeper and if more effort was put into the adventure game design (look for my earlier review). We just completed " Chemicus " and I can honestly say that this was a MUCH better overall attempt. Nearly all of the puzzles of the game are chemistry-related ranging from the fairly easy and logical to the pretty hard and requiring a hint or two (we peeked into the included walkthrough only a couple of times to get us unstuck). The greatest improvement over "Physicus", however, was on the game design side. Like "Physicus" the graphics and music are lush and inviting. But, the scope of the game is where " Chemicus " shines over its predecessor. "Physicus" was just a singular environment or location to explore with very few cut-scenes and conveyances to enjoy along the way; both popular elements to a successful adventure game. In " Chemicus ", even though the "subway" system was a little on the cheesy and repetitive side, at least it felt like we were transporting between unique locations (thank goodness the space bar forwards you through the animations). Plus, after solving some particularly difficult puzzles, we were rewarded with some nice cut-scenes; the balloon ride over the city being the best one. It wasn't on the same level as the bigger games like Riven and Schizm, but still an improvement. One thing...

Pandora-s Box Jewel Case

5 stars (Excellent Game) - The puzzles in this game are wonderful and stimulating - not to mention beautiful. I have played this game several time already and never tire of reworking the puzzles. I highly recommend this game if you are in to puzzle games. There is a small story line of a sort,or should I say several stories, but it adds wonderfully to the fun of the game. 1 stars (Must have the CD in the drive) - I detest games like this that require I mount the CD in the drive. Especially when those games are published by companies with big agendas for laptops and other small devices that DON'T HAVE CD DRIVES! And even if I did have a drive, why should I have to go fetch the CD when I want to play the game? HELLO? I might be on the road? Why did I purchase that 60 GB Hard Drive? So that I would keep my stuff in a bunch of CDs? HELLO ??? Or, maybe this game is so overwhelmingly important that I should dedicate my CD drive to it. HELLO? Annoyware? Infuriateware? How about boycottware? The only way to teach companies to stop this infantile attempt at antipiracy is to Not Buy Games That Require the CD in the Drive. Don't buy it unless you want to shuffle CDs every time you want to play it. Don't buy it if your laptop doesn't have a CD drive. I'm not even going to address the quality of the game. 5 stars (More than puzzles...) - There are enough different kinds of visual puzzles in this game to provide something for every puzzler. But it's more than that... there is a story! It isn't the kind of game that calls itself an adventure game but then sends you into a frustrating series of sliders and mazes... it makes no bones about its nature. But it does have a premise: You, the player, are searching for a group of mischievous characters to return them to Pandora's Box. They have scattered to the four winds and can be found hiding in the mythology of a variety of cultures. Only through searching through famous artifacts, landmarks, and works of art from these cultu...

Aura- Fate of the Ages

1 stars (I just dont' get it) - I must not be a puzzle game person because I have no idea how anyone could get through these puzzles in a reasonable amount of time. The objects are so alien looking that I have no idea what to do with the things that I have picked up. I found a walk thru online and used it for the Gazebo outside on the first world. If I didn't have that there is no way I would have been able to solve it. Luckly I only paid $7 for this at Electronics Bountique and didn't feel that bad about breaking the CDs in half and throwing everything in the trash in fustration. 5 stars (Couldn't stop playing) - This game is a must if you like Puzzle/adventure games. The puzzles are not as hard as the Myst series or Alone in the Dark which I found refreshing. Can't wait for Aura II. 3 stars (A little stupid but pretty good over all.) - This game has a story but it's flakey and dumb. But the graphics are good and the puzzles are quite good, bordering on exellent! If you buy this game BE SURE TO DOWNLOAD THE PATCH OR YOU WILL HAVE TECH PROBLEMS!! Do a net search for "Aura patch" It should be no problem to find. Once it's patched you are good to go. Fun puzzles. Not the best game but worth the full price nonetheless! ...

Echo- Secrets of the Lost Cavern

4 stars (Echo-puzzles etc) - Echo was a fun game with some very inventive puzzles which I really enjoyed. The only real problem that I had with this game was that it was wayyyyyyyyy to short! Enjoy! 4 stars (Hard puzzles) - I really liked this game and liked learning about our ancient history. There was no way I could do the puzzles without the strategy guide. For that reason alone, I dropped the score to 4 stars. 5 stars (Unique Story, Tremendous Fun) - I don't know why someone hasn't thought to make a game around this setting - about 20,000 + years ago before, and still respect what we know about the period. Don't let this scare you. Forget the muscle bound club and kill stuff. Although several of the puzzles are variations on puzzles I've met in several other games, here they are totally in sinc with the story line and tremendous fun. Others are new to me, challenging, and still totally appropriate to the story line. The graphics are extremely good, and in some places - especially good. I really felt like I'd been transported back to that world of our own earliest direct ancestors - the people who did those cave paintings. Not Neaderthal, by the way. The characters' interaction with their world of that time (end of last Ice Age) was neither grating, nor silly. It IS true that the plot isn't all that unusual from the other games I've played, but the way it was done here, given what I've already said, made it totally fresh and TREMENDOUS FUN! There are games that I HAVE played that I enjoyed just as much - for different reasons - but few I've enjoyed more. (Warning: I AM a terminal Syberia fan.) Even the acting was OK! All in all, I couldn't recommend it more highly. Even the price is reasonable! It wasn't difficult giving ECHO 5 stars in BOTH categories. ...

Hoyle Puzzle - Board Games 2005

5 stars (Just Leaning) - When I first got this game I didn't know how to play Chess. But now at 42 yrs old I know how and I'm very good. All the games are exciting and a lot of fun. 5 stars (Hoyle Puzzle & board Games 2005 review) - Large variety of interesting games with clear instructions on how to play. 5 stars (Hoyle Puzzle & Board Games 2005) - This is great for the whole family! Nancy Drew- Secret Of The Scarlet Hand Jewel Case

4 stars (Interesting characters; etc.) - It's worth the purchase. Very good graphics, sound effects, background music, and interesting interaction with characters. The historical aspect adds interest, as well. You have plenty of tasks to perform, and if you get stuck, you can find help via phonecalls in the game; or online at Her Interactive web site forum. Keep pen and paper nearby to take notes! My favorite Nancy Drew games are: Danger on Deception Island, Secret of Shadow Ranch, and Ghost Dogs of Moon Lake. I like all of the ND games, however, and have played all more than once. 4 stars (First ND game, ) - I liked the game overall, it was different from what I am used to playing (which is good b/c that is why I bought it). What I liked about it: Very challenging, fun tid-bits to learn,"hot spot" indicator, graphics, good hints when needed, playing detective! What I didn't like about it: Some of the puzzles were difficult, the narration task was very lengthy and kina tedious, especially the number tile puzzle. The descriptions of the glyphs were not very helpful. I finally went to a cheat sheet for help. Not being able to dial directly from the desk phone to call for help was discouraging. Many little facts to learn was a fun but if I didn't write things down then it slowed the game down because you had to go back and research them (HERinteractive was a huge help). (...) was great, esp message boards. Spoilers and hints were very helpful because sometimes a nudge in the right direction is what is needed. The only complaint I have is that you can't use "free" email accounts to register which is frustrating. Why not?! Oh well, life goes on. 4 stars (If you like Mayan history, this is the Nancy Drew for you ) - Not sure if the history is correct, but I hope so. There is lots of information to keep track of. I always felt as though I had accomplished something when I was able to answer the various questions asked throughout. This is a different k...
