5 stars (Great Home Editing Software) - Media Suite is a great sowtware combo! It's includes four discs and two manuals Pinnacle Suite: You can do just about anything a home editor needs to do using this suite. (I would not recomend it porfessionally) The green screen effect is good but hard to perfect it so you cant tell there was a differant color there first. All the effects are great. You get large variety of them in this pack. Though there are still houndreds of dollars wirth of eother effect, songs, special effects, etc. That you have to buy seprantly. The controls are very compliated it took me about two weeks of playnig around with the program until i felt truly comfortable using it. Steinberg Wavelab: This program has a very small amount of features but what it does have is complicated. Your can record audio as long as you like and then add aprox. 3 effects choosing from a list of 20. It very easy to take out or add in parts of audio (edit) Corel Photobook: Have have only used this ounce but from what ican see see you can do simple edits on pictures. The tools are much like those of the microsoft programs. Pinnacle Instant Copy, Pinnacle DVD Recorder: I have used neither of these. 1 stars (Software HodgePodge that never works as advertised) - If you want to spend time creating videos this is not the product for you. There is a reason that they are on Version 9, 8 previous poor products and counting. Installation crashes are normal and product support people know nothing about the product. Every upgrade (you pay for) introduces new problems or takes away previous capability and applying their patches are risky at best. 3 stars (Does what it says, but...) - As a TV tuner it functions OK. It isn't anything spectacular, but when one considers the comparatively high resolutions that computer monitors produce (as opposed to traditional PAL/NTSC televisions) the quality is rather good. A previous reviewer claimed that the A/V inputs were not functional. That is absolutely false. I currently have my Xbox plugged into it and am playing it windowed on my PC. My complaints are that 1) There is a video lag with the inputs, 2) The provided software is sketchy at best, and 3) Pinncale demands extra money to 'unlock' different encoding methods, (i.e. Mpeg-2, Mpeg-4, VCD, etc.) In short, it does what it says, but that is about it. 1 stars (It's only a TV port, NOT a capture device - BEWARE!!) - If I could give it NO stars I would. IT'S A RIP-OFF!! Those reviewers who found this product OK are only using it as a TV device, not for external video capture. Sure, it works adequately as a TV device (so the one star is probably justified after all) but it is emphatically NOT a video capture port as supplied. Pinnacle's own bundled software does NOT support video input (neither for live display nor for capture) via the temptingly-annotated Composite or S-Video ports. It only 'sees' inputs on the UHF (TV) antenna input. Pinnacle have been promising to include this functionality for over 6 months but, so far, NADA!! Of course, the only way you can get to see the deluge of negative feedback this generates is to purchase the product to gain access to the support forums. The public aren't allowed in... Here's kicker #1 - if you're prepared to spend the same money again Pinnacle will sell you their Studio 9 application which (I THINK) supports these external (non-TV) video inputs. Now for kicker #2 - alternatively you can buy (again for a comparable ADDITIONAL cost) a third-party app called ShowShifter which has absolutely no problem seeing, displaying and capturing the extra inputs in this Pinnacle-... 1 stars (I'm dissappointed and frustrated) - I have a laptop and a 2nd graphics monitor at home, and bought this to calibrate both. I adjust the sliders on my IBM T40, and the Spyder software doesn't "see" that I've done it, although it's conspicuous on the LCD screen. The second monitor? It won't even recognize it. Over $200 wasted. I'm a graphics professional, and if I'm missing something, the instructions are woefully inadequate! 5 stars (Setup alittle confusing - GREAT results) - Once you work your way through the setup the results are fantastic! 5 stars (A must have for any serious photographer) - A fantastic product, well known and proven. 4 stars (Great for the money) - This product is great for the money, however keep in mind a couple of things. It comes with Video Studio 8 VCD which is not the full version of Video Studio 8 -- you can only make VCDs with it, not DVDs. That is a hugh limitation. If you only care about VCD, make sure you get the patches for VS8. But since you have VS8, you can upgrade to VS9 (full) for $50 which is a very nice product. I am able to do everything I want with VS9 including ripping scenes from DVDs as well as the VideoMPX capture device. Going this route, you save $50 on VS9 and get the DIVX encoder for free (a $20 value) which means the VideoMPX essentially pays for itself. Whether you decide to go with VS8-VCD or VS9, make sure you get the new VideoMPX driver from ADS Tech. The one it ships with has issues. After I got the new driver, it works great. 1 stars (it's awful) - I spent hours upon hours trying to get this program to work-no luck. Support line staff was of little to no use. 1 stars (Does not work with Adobe Photoshop CS2) - I bought the Spyder 2 Plus believing the Colorvision software would also install on Adobe Photoshop CS2, but it doesn't. I called their support desk and they walked me through the simple procedures unsuccessffully. The person with whom I spoke said that the installation disc was probably corrupted, and I was then directed to their website to download the latest Colorvision Profiler shown, which is dated August 2002. It is a bit behind the times, apparently, to work with CS2, because it also didin't work at all. I don't know what the PlUS is all about, if its latest downloadable program is three years old, and it doesn't funcion with the latest Adobe Photoshop CS2. This important information is not posted anywhere. 1 stars (be careful!) - another reviewer mentioned receiving used equipment. I, too, received a used product - scuffs on the spyder and opened software box. unfortunately, my product was broken as well. the product may be good in theory, but then, it would need to work for me to comment on that particular facet. you may want to consider other alternatives. 2 stars (A Necessary Accessory?) - The Spyder 2 promises to calibrate your monitor so that the images on the screen will look more like what is being produced by your printer. It does this by building a profile for your monitor and running that profile when you start your computer. Installation and running of the of the software and the hardware that attaches to the monitor to build the profile was flawless. A little more information in the form of a printed manual or pdf file would have been nice, but the software does a good job of hand-holding and stepping one through the process. With the monitor calibration completed the images on the screen were indeed a little closer to what my printer, an HP 5550, was producing. From this point of view I would rate the Spyder 4 stars because it does what it says it is going to do. However, mor... 4 stars (Excellent Product - once you get it installed!) - Although it seemed to install OK, I couldn't get it to record for my life. I uninstalled and reinstalled twice. After lots of fooling around with the configuration I finally was able to record! This thing is absolutely great. One of the first things you come to appreciate is the free online TV guide. With the guide I can find my show easily and then tell it to record all new episodes. It then skips old episodes and will even follow the show when it moves from one night to another (i.e. goes from Wednesday night @ 7pm to Thursday @ 8pm). Try that with your VCR! Recordings can take up a ton of disk space - about 2.4 gig per hour. Beyond TV has an option where it will shrink the disk space required after the show completes. You can tell it to do the shrinking during non prime-time so it doesn't interfere with your usual work. Net effect is about 1/4 of the space is needed (.7 gig versus 2.4 gig) and I can't detect any quality difference! 1 stars (beyondtv cant install) - I tried to install this for 2 weeks and can't intall it. The installation wizzard complains that it can't find an internet connection. The tech support could not identify the problem and told me to wait (forever?) until they fine a fix. Apprently, BeyondTV has problems communicating with some ISP's. This is a known problem that Snapstrem didn't disclose. Now I'm stuck with software that will not even install (dell 2.5ghz with 1g memory). My $62 purchase is worthless. The warrenty specifically states that installation problems are not covered. Totally dissatisfied. 5 stars (This product is great) - It is so easy to record your favorate shows. With a product called mpeg-vcr, you can edit commericals out in seconds. Then burn to dvd. Way better than tivo, and no monthly fees! ... 5 stars (One of the lucky ones) - This product and the stand alone software version have received a lot of flak in these reviews. I have not had any problems and have found the software to be extremely easy to use. I used to use Sonic's MyDVD and I had created about 10 DVDs with it. I was very unhappy with MyDVD as it constantly crashed and spit out error messages that aren't listed in Sonic's Knowledge Base. I bought Studio 9 on the PC World recommendation and it was great. My first project was to edit and burn over 1 Gig of MPEGs from a trip to Disney World. MyDVD crashed anytime I tried to make a DVD with these files. Studio 9 burned it in about 3 hours, which is far less time than MyDVD takes for a similar size project. Clearly lots of people have issues with this product based on the reviews, but I just needed to put in my two cents that it is awesome. 3 stars (Alright I guess) - I heard the reviews about this product and I still bought it because PC MAGAZINE said it was good. I bought it and it does what it says. The only thing is that when you transfer a VHS tape to DVD it takes forever to render and burn. It must take at least 4 hours for it to render/read and burn. Too long is you ask me! 1 stars (Don't buy this product) - The specs for Pinncale Studio Plus are impresive but despite hours of trying I could never get the software to successfully complete a movie. The program hangs after 5 - 15 min of rendering, regardless of what I am trying to create (DVD, AVI, MPEG, etc.) This is a fatal flaw. The included trouble shooting guide even admints this is a potential problem and basically say to keep reinstalling the program and trying different settings. This should make one nervous. There are any number of other video capture/creating solutions out there to choose from, choose something else. ...
